October, Halloween and THAILAND

Hiking the "Flatirons" in Boulder for our family hike. Defiantly the most challenging and difficult hike the kids have ever done, but they were SUPER

HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEEnnnn and out to lunch with my mamma more times then I could count!
Ready.Set. Fligh for 2 days....off to Thailand!!! Our trip was 2 weeks long, we bounced around from Bangkok, flew to very south Phuket, Ferried over to Kho Phi Phi island, flew back up to norther Thailand, to Chang Mai, and trained down to Bangkok again. These picts are way out of order....but  make just as much sense as Thailand did.....none at all.
On the amazing island of Kho Phi Phi, no scooters or cars allowed, only food paths.

Met up with Dan and Anne ( around day 10) for some luxurious beach walking and personal snorkel trip ( where I ended up getting sea sick, and tossing my cookies off the side of the boat) otherwise, a beautiful snorkel trip

Some of the food to view, taste, eat, and one of the MANY markets throughout Thailand

First day in Bangkok, at the temple which hosts the largest laying Budha in the world....as seen below. Quite beautiful and impressive
Jeff making friends with a cat....scattered all over the cities are stray dogs and cats, who all seem to love the roaming life, and actually eat quite well.

One of the first real meals in Bangkok. Some little mamas Pad Thai stand. Food, goods and living here is CHEAP! Our most expensive day for the 2 of us to eat totaled around 18$

The floating market. Stands, sellers, homes, coconut farms all center around these markets, which are on water.  A private water "taxi" spent the day with us, and showed us around this little gem

Another market, above, but this one is situated ON the railroad tracks. When the train comes down the tracks, they shut their tarps, and when it passes, raise them up and begin selling again. On the outskirts of Bangkok
FAVORITE meal!!! Kow Soi. Basically a chicken in broth, with delicious crunches, spices...who knows what else, but I ended up eating so much of it, my lips began to split and peel, due to the heat of the dish. sooo worth it.

Beautiful temple in the rainy city of Chang Mai. However, the living conditions here seemed much better!!! Compared to the rest of Thailand that we saw

The night market in Phuket. Oh the smells, heat, bodies, food, shops, lighting, EVERYTHING is more then all your senses can handle. We tried all sorts of food, some we didn't know what it was, but every time, pure deliriousness!!!

Just a sampling of the trouble they go to, all just to make a buck. As seen below, it didn't take long to become addicted to the smoothies!!!

On the ferry ride over to Kho PhiPhi
Views of the island, and water Taxies

Grabbing a sampler plate of the fresh fruit. This one happened to be some grapefruit related fruit, mango's, dragon fruit and something else....like I said, unsure of what all it was, but TASTY

Our delicious breakfast served right to our room with a view!!! Overlooking the island.

Morning shots when the tide was out, as well as a view of our breakfast companion.....who apparently him and his extended family are looked on as pests!

Just an every day ride to school. Jeff and I on a waterfall hike in ChangMai

Beautiful views of the hike. We didn't see or hear many bugs, but did encounter 2 HUGE spiders. Biggest I've ever seen, or as big as I'd like to see!!

SATURDAY night market in Chang Main! You just can't imagine all the people, noise, lights, sounds, smells....its like a food addict, appetizer lovers dream!! All the little samplings off food you could want, around 30 Bhat each, which is not quite 1$. Now thats GOOD EATS

Renting and gassing up the scooter for our day trip. Above, the fantastic air BnB we stayed at. Despite the fact that the POLICE cheated us out of 700 Bhat ( grrrrrrr all over some drivers lisence, which turns out it was illegal and a scam) we had a fantastic day

Temple that sits literally onto of the mountain, with a VIEW!!!

Lanterns being decorated and set up for the lantern festival

There it is!! My most favorite food in the world!!! Mango Rice!!!!! Gosh, probably cost 30 Bhat. How did I not eat more of it!!!!!????

The view on our sleeper train, showing the train by day, and the transformation for night.

The grand palace. Since the king had died just weeks before we traveled, it did make our touring at times quite difficult. However, so neat to be in the middle of such a unique cultural mourning.

The grand palace, where one day while we were here, the princess even came, and we were part of welcoming the royal brigade (just per chance, as we were strolling along the street as they approached)

Jeff is in the middle of the street....you'd never know because a large chunk around the palace was shut down to accomidate the native Thai people, coming to mourn the kings passing

 License plate, in Thai

I did it. We had our final meal in Thailand french fries and Ice cream. I'm surprised that it wasn't a big salad!! Veggies were had to come by, and I craved them more then I thought!! Ah, and below, finally I found the water jug in a bottle that I can agree with.

Final leg of the journey. Splitting off in the airport, and freezing. We experienced the most horrifying turbulence (survived that) 2 bouts of "Thailand Tornado" ie stomach/back end issues that you wouldn't believe, sea sickness......BUT saw more food, shops, motor bikes, people, heard more sounds, ate better food, smelled a range of smells, and had our self's just an overall fantastic time!!!!
